Solving the Job Readiness/Skills Gap

Last week Ease Learning and MoodleUS cohosted a webinar on how to solve the job readiness/skills gap.  The webinar addressed this costly issue that has a negative impact on everyone - from the education sector to employers and those who seek to place skilled workers.

Featured speaker, Laurie Pulido, CEO of Ease Learning, shared how educators struggle to produce relevant programs that graduate students who are job ready and how failure to prepare students for real world relevance linked to careers, results in a loss in retention and makes it even more difficult to build future enrollments. For commercial and government organizations, associations and nonprofits, when an employee doesn’t have the skills necessary for job readiness, it can lead to longer onboardings, difficulty in reaching output capacity and, in some cases, cause massive failures to the system. Consider the cost of an underskilled technician working on maintenance of a critical piece of equipment.

The webinar also discussed how Ease Learning Design and Ease Skillways addresses what is broken in most programs that are designed to build job readiness and how Skillways can help enable skills-based programs that are mapped to specific outcomes and taxonomies.  She also shared the benefits of delivering Skillways enabled curriculum on Moodle’s Workplace.  The combination of Ease Learning Design, Skillways and Moodle Workplace allows for more robust workforce-aligned, online learning opportunities; opportunities that build the skills employers need and helps eliminate the job readiness gap.
